Organizational Structure

The structure is three-tiered. At the ground, membership of men and women are accommodated in gender-wise local units. Each unit consists of 20 members. One member from the local unit represents the unit at Mandal level. The forum of these representatives electsthe seven member executive committee.

Mandal Union–Members pay annual subscription of Rs. 50/- . The mandal unit maintains a bank account with joint signatories by president, secretary and treasurer. The committees meet once a month at mandal level.

The general rule across the union is the membership amount is only spent for the campaigns and struggles. In other words, the non- compromised collective decision of APVVU is that the membership resources should not be spent for the travels and honorarium of the office bearers, full timers ( working committees) and volunteers. Every mandal union will pay Rs.1000/- per year as state union membership on the day of the annual general body meeting.

District Union - Executive Committee members of all the mandal trade unions in the district constitute the general counsel of the district. These in turn elect the district executive and a district secretary.

State union – Each mandal Union sends two representatives to the state union to form the general body. One of the two is a woman. The general body elects state executive committee and 5 full time state secretaries ( honorary).

State working team: APVVU believes in collective leadership and decentralized decision making process. We have 5 state secretaries:

  1. Women Secretary

  2. Secretary for Adivasi concerns

  3. Secretary for agriculture workers ( MGNREGA workers)

  4. Secretary for Dalits & youth

  5. Secretary for Fisher folk

While these are the elected secretaries, the secretary for national campaigns and wider level collaborations is an ex-officio- non- elected.
